Trainers will now be able to journey to Wagga or Temora to find a race for their greyhound as Greyhound Racing NSW begins their easing of restrictions which were put in place to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Bathurst's Kennerson Park racing manager Jason Lyne said it's a great sign for the industry.

"Our zone's opened up to Temora and Wagga. From next week trainers will have the chance to race at those tracks," he said.

"Hopefully over the next few weeks, if restrictions can keep easing, we should be able to move into other zones in the near future."

Over the past month Bathurst has been hosting additional Friday meetings alongside their regular Monday events to give trainers more opportunity to race.

The last of those meetings is set to take place this Friday before the restrictions are lifted.

Racing at Dubbo's Dawson Park has returned to the Thursday afternoon slot in recent times.

Lyne said the additional racing has been a big benefit to the region.

"Central West racing is very strong. It gave dogs an opportunity to race when they haven't been able to find draws," he said.

"A lot of promising younger dogs have been coming through our Friday meetings and then backing up on the Monday.

"It's a nice opportunity for trainers to still earn good prizemoney, which has been kept at the same levels it normally has been. It's been a meeting that's been well received by everybody."
