But, now that governments have started to ease restrictions we want to help our community get back on it's feet, by letting our readers know who is open, who is still closed, and what changes businesses have had to make.
We have a couple of things in the works, with our Back in Business guide online your first point of call.
The guide, found here, lets businesses add in their most current details, and if they already have a listing they can update it if needed.
We are also going to start hosting an Open for Business Hour on our Facebook page.
Each Wednesday night for the next four weeks we will pin a post to the top of our page, allowing businesses to comment and let our readers know if they are open, closed, or their times and services have changed.
The post will then remain on our Facebook page for everyone to see.
We will run this Open for Business Hour between 6pm and 7pm, giving businesses plenty of time to let the community know what they are currently doing.
Businesses will also have the opportunity to tag their own Facebook page as well as upload a photo of their wares or services if they wish.
We're all in this together, and these are just a couple of ways we are hoping to support our local businesses as they reopen, and adapt to the changing climate.
It will give our community a chance to support businesses locally first, while also observing social distancing rules.
And after the past few months, our local businesses need our support - because if we don't support them, they won't be able to support our community as they do.
We hope to 'see' you on our Facebook page this Wednesday evening - if you are a business, come along and let us know what you are doing.
Do you have something to say? We welcome your letters which may run in print and online.
