In the big cities properties are becoming vacant in large numbers as people move out, due to significant loss in employment, a drop off in international students and people being forced to work from home. There is no need to have that second place in the city, if you don't have the need to travel for work each week.

But in Dubbo, all that hasn't meant much to the rental market, with a new record low rate for rental vacancy during the month of March.

People are coming to Dubbo, and despite the pandemic and the restrictions that are in place, they are still looking for places to live so they too can call Dubbo home.

With tight restrictions focusing on online showings, real estate agents have still been busy over the past few weeks, as more people look for rental properties around our city.

And it's a good thing for our economy.

As the Orana Division Real Estate Institute of NSW secretary Shayna Chapman said, it shows how resilient our city and our region is.

First we have had a terrible drought, and now we are going through a pandemic with tight restrictions in place, but still there are only a few places to rent a property within the city.

Even with an increase in available rental properties demand is still equaling the supply over this tough economic period.

Whether it is people moving out of the city and coming back home, while going through this tough time, or people looking to move here permanently, it's some good news for our city.

And with restrictions easing, and businesses reopening, it all seems like things might be getting back to normal a little - which is some more good news for you.
