After five-straight grand final appearances, the latest a 58-0 thrashing of the Manildra Rhinos, it's a fair warning shot.

But first-year co-coach Blake Ridges believes a shortened campaign slated for the Cup competition this winter will suit the Boomers' older brigade down to the ground.

And with reigning Alex Armstrong medal winner Adam Hall pulling the strings again in 2020, Ridges says there's no reason the Boomers can't become the first Woodbridge Cup club to claim four-straight first grade crowns.

"Everyone waiting for the start of the season will make them want to get up and play even more," Ridges said.

"I feel like some of the older heads such as Adam Hall and some others from other clubs will prefer the format of it goes ahead.

"It will be easier on everyone's bodies that's for sure."

The Woodbridge Cup board's proposal after its last meeting indicated a one-round regular season following by a top six finals series was the preferred option for the coronavirus affected season.

Ridges confirmed Trundle would be part of what is now a nine-team campaign, following the withdrawal of Manildra in early May.

The Rhinos say participating in a shortened Cup premiership in 2020 isn't viable for them, but the red and whites will be back in 2021.

The loss of Manildra is a blow, losing any club always is, but Ridges doesn't see a Cup competition sans the Rhinos as being of a lesser standard.

"If anything I think the withdrawal of Manildra might strengthen some of the other clubs around them; Cargo, Molong, should they choose to join the competition. People may still want to play and might make the venture to those towns and play," Ridges said.

"If that happened it would be very competitive for the short season and would not make it less attractive for us to play in, in my opinion.

"But from the mood in Trundle, everyone is keen to have a run ... it has been pretty boring without football this year and I think the whole town is feeling that lapse in their social lives."
