The Dubbo trainer has been enjoying a stunning run of results in recent times and it's seen him become firmly entrenched in the top 25 trainers in the state this season.

Nestor currently has a winning strike-rate of more than 22%, which is better than the likes of Chris Waller, Kris Lees, James Cummings, and Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

In fact, of this season's top 20 only leading country trainer Matthew Dunn is scoring a win more regularly than Nestor.

As well as the wins, Nestor is also finishing among the top three in almost every second race he's a part of.

There's been a number of high-profile wins on the way and he'll be out to score another on Friday when Sneak Preview contests the $72,000 Noel Leckie Country Cup (1400m) at Scone.

"It helps when you've got a bigger string of horses," Nestor said, have expanded in a big way since he started training in late 2017.

"At one time we're working about 30 or 40 so even if it's a quiet run you've got enough to go around and get a win somewhere.

"You've got to keep the winners coming and we're doing that but I'm not taking it for granted. I know a tough run will come."

The success - headlined by a winning quinella in this year's Country Championships heat Coonamble - has brought with it much attention and more clients.

It's allowed Nestor to not only add more horses to his stable, but put him in the position to pick and choose what horses come in to ensure the best standard and chance of success.

"We're at the stage now where we're picking up more quality," he said.

"You can give them a go and we're at the stage where we can get a couple of handy horses and target the better races like this one at Scone, or the Country Championships, or a Highway, or even a midweek (city) race.

"We're looking for the better prize money. Racing is getting more competitive and we're lucky we're up there."

Sneak Preview could put Nestor's name up in lights again on Friday.

The race is the kind of which the four-year-old gelding has been crying out for, according to his trainer.

A win in the Country Championships heat was followed by a tenth-placed finish in the final before finishing third last time out in the Diggers Cup at Narromine.

That event was the back-up plan as Nestor had hoped Sneak Preview would get a run in the $100,000 but despite being first emergency he missed a start.

"Ninety-nine times out of 100 there's a scratching but he didn't get a run," Nestor lamented.

After getting back at Narromine last start he was forced to shift inside, where the track wasn't as true, late on but the same problem shouldn't happen at Scone.

Keagan Latham, who Nestor described as "world-class" will take the ride from gate nine.

"He drew mid-pack so hopefully he'll settle mid-field," Nestor said.

"The extra 100 (metres) will suit him and it's a nice wide track at Scone. It looks a good race for him."

It's another busy period for the up-and-coming Dubbo trainer, with Friday's race following on from Fast Talking's fourth-placed finish at Warwick Farm on Tuesday.

Fast Talking, who produced a fantastic run to finish fourth in the Country Championships Final, is now set for a spell before returning to take on the likes of the Dubbo Gold Cup later in the year.

Team Nestor will Magic Gift race at Narromine's picnic meeting on Saturday while there's also a number of hopes set for Parkes' meeting on Sunday and Monday's hometown meeting.

Of Sunday's chances, Toulon Brook will contest the Parkes Cup feature event.

"We've got four meetings in four days but it's not a bad problem to have," Nestor said.
