We've written a few editorials over the past weeks about supporting local, because there is nothing more important at this time than supporting the services in our own city.
Ahead of Mother's Day business doors that have been closed for the past five to six weeks, are reopening. They are all different. Some are just for certain hours each day, other's are just for certain days.
The past six weeks or so have seen many, many changes for these businesses; those that decided to close doors on their own and those that were forced by the government due to restrictions in light of this pandemic.
Businesses who didn't have an online presence before, now have one. Social media has become a way to promote what you offer, and a way to keep in touch with customers.
It's been a hard slog for some, and it's not over yet.

We've all seen the 'shop local' campaigns during the drought, and this pandemic has come straight off the back of the drought. Businesses have been hit time and time again.
And, now they are facing 12 or more months just to recover from the past few weeks - because things aren't back to normal for them yet.
This virus is still out there, and we all still need to be careful.
Businesses will do what they can to support us, and we need to do what we can to support them.
So please, if you are jumping online to purchase something, stop for just a minute. Think. Can we get that locally? It's only by supporting each other, will we all get through this.
Do you have something to say? We welcome your letters which may run in print and online.
