A tagged mulloway has been caught an incredible four times in eight months in a NSW estuary.

According to NSW DPI, the mulloway was tagged in Port Stephens on March 29 last year by Alex Thrift. The fish was measured at 75cm and was released in a "healthy condition".
The first recapture was recorded 54 days later, Chris Clarke getting the same fish in the same waterway and measured 1cm longer. Clarke decided to release the fish as it was still healthy.
The second recapture was recorded 130 days later on September 29 when Josh Hudson re-caught the fish in the same area. This time the fish had grown 2cm and Hudson also chose to release the fish.
Third recapture was logged when the fish was again caught in the same location by an unknown angler 38 days later. The fish was retained and measured 81cm.
The fish was caught four times and was at liberty for 222 days.
NSW DPI says this is a valuable reminder of how with proper handling techniques, mulloway will survive for many other anglers to catch.
Recreational Fishing Freshwater Trust Expenditure Committee
The Dubbo Catches team would like to extend its congratulations to Dubbo fisherman Paul Mullen who has been appointed to represent the Central Inner West region on the NSW Freshwater Trust Expenditure Committee. It is reward for many volunteer years, helping to run the Lake Burrendong Easter Classic. Mr Mullen's efforts have helped to get many great local river health projects off the ground over many years.
The Recreational Fishing Freshwater Trust Expenditure Committee (RFFTEC), made up of freshwater anglers from eight different regions from around the state, was formed in 1998 to assist the Recreational Fishing NSW Advisory Council (RFNSW) in setting Trust expenditure priorities, by providing expertise on regional freshwater fishing issues.
