The man, who didn't wish to be named, said the win had come at the best time for him.

"I lost my job recently because things had really slowed down due to the coronavirus pandemic," he explained.

"I'm definitely going to buy myself a new car. My old car isn't even worth fixing.

"I'll also be able to buy myself a home! It's honestly unbelievable."

The winner held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3969, drawn Wednesday 29 April 2020, and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.

Confirming his win with an official from the Lotto on Friday morning, the sleepy but over-the-moon winner said he only checked his ticket last night, more than 24 hours after the draw.

"Wow! I checked my ticket on the app at around 10pm [Thursday] and it told me I'd won one million dollars.

"Of course I didn't really believe it, so I went down to the newsagency first thing this morning to double check.

"I didn't sleep a wink last night, I've been up all night thinking about what I'd do with it if it was true!

"I feel numb. I'm shaking. I've spilt my coffee all over the place.

"I can't get my head around it! It's absolutely unbelievable."

The life-changing ticket was purchased at TSG Dubbo, 213 Macquarie Street, Dubbo.

TSG Dubbo owners Mark Liersch and Michele Collins said they were thrilled their local and regular customer had checked his ticket.

"We're so glad our winner has come forward," they said.

The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3969 on Wednesday 29 April 2020 were 20, 7, 4, 17, 38 and 39 while the supplementary numbers were 44 and 33.
