For five years the hospital assistant at Dubbo Health Service has cleaned to protect patients, staff and the public.
In the concerning time of the pandemic, Ms Lucas is pleased to be defending her community. She said contributing to the success of bringing the rate of infection down motivated her.
"Because of where I'm working at the moment, I feel like I'm a big part of helping in minimising the infection."
A total of six confirmed cases of COVID-19 had been recorded within the Dubbo local government area
Through the demanding time, hospital workmates have lifted each other's spirits.
"I have a really good team, so the teamwork and support of all my fellow colleagues and especially the surgical unit crew, and how we've all adapted to the new changes in the unit and continuously working together on a daily basis," Ms Lucas said.
"They're a great bunch so it's good."
