The $550 million national service aims to provide support to anyone who is caring for a family member or friend with a disability, medical condition, mental illness, elderly, and alcohol or drug dependency.

"This free phone and online service is aimed at helping the carer," LiveBetter's chief executive officer Natalie Forsyth-Stock said.

"The service comes at a time of need for carers who are feeling fear and anxiety about the coronavirus."

Carers will be able to receive support planning, counselling, carer directed support packages and emergency respite.

With more than 27,000 carers in the Central West, LiveBetter will boost employment with 13 full time staff to help with the intake of calls and facilitation of services.

"It has taken four years for this service to be developed and we're very excited to launch it," she said.
