At 3.14pm on Wednesday, police officers were conducting stationary speed enforcement of the school zone on North Street in Dubbo.

Officers observed a silver coloured sedan travelling travelling above the 40km/h speed limit in a southbound direction along the road.

Police detected the vehicle at 54km/h as it passed through the intersection of East Street.

"At this intersection, there are two schools, West Dubbo Public and St Pius X, with two pedestrian crossings," Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers said.

"Police then intercepted the silver Holden Commodore with Queensland registration."

Officers said the female driver was requested to produce her licence and she said "I don't have a driver's licence" while exiting the vehicle.

The 26-year-old female driver from Dubbo was spoken to in relation to the speed.

"She stated 'I didn't even take notice', before adding 'I'm on bail not to be in the driver's seat of a car'," police said.

Police inquiries revealed the motorist did not hold a drivers licence and had been the subject of other driving without a licence offences.

As a result the driver was charged with: exceed speed in a school zone and drive without a licence, and will appear at the Dubbo Local Court later this month.
