Advanced Dental Care Dubbo lead dentist Dr Priya Shanmugalingam said it's important for residents to know clinics are still taking urgent care patients and for them not to take their medical emergencies to the hospital emergency department.

"A lot of people actually go to the hospital for dental emergencies," Dr Shanmugalingam said.
"It's important that people come to us in these situations as we want to avoid people clogging up the emergency departments of our hospitals who are already under strain due to the coronavirus.
We do not want to see people attending the hospital for for dental related issues when our hospitals are already under so much strain

"All though some clinics have closed, many remain open and are available over the phone during business trading hours. Patients should call ahead so we can determine if they need to come into the clinic."
ADA NSW president Dr Kathleen Matthews said it's also important for residents to know that going to the dentist is safe and people who require urgent dental assistance should not put going to the dentist off because they are afraid of getting sick.
"All patients will be asked answer some questions before they attend. These include asking them if they have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, if they are experiencing respiratory symptoms or a temperature and if they have recently visited an area where COVID-19 is widely spread," Dr Matthews said.
"We do not want to see people attending the hospital for dental-related issues when our hospitals are already under so much strain."
The government's latest restrictions mean clinics will only be treating patients who have experienced an incident leading to trauma, such as a broken tooth, if they are experiencing pain, aches and/or swelling or has an infection.
Parkside Dental Surgery Dubbo and Dubbo Dentistry will also be working under level three restrictions. A full list of running clinics will be posted ADA NSW website to help direct residents to their nearest open clinic.
