It may have been a raceday largely populated by locals, but it was Wyong's Damien Lane who scored the best result of the day at Saturday's Dubbo Turf Club race meeting.

Lane notched up two wins during the seven races slated for Saturday's meeting, with his third and last horse scoring a third place finish to round out the day.
Lane considered the third place finish a strong result, given the extra weight that Captain's Legend carried into the 2200m bout.

"It was a good boost for him, Captain's Legend, I think the big blow for him in that race was the fact that he was carrying about seven more kilos than the two that got ahead of him, I think with a closer weight, he'd have had a much better chance at the win there," Lane said.
Lane's other two winners, taking out the 1400m Maiden Handicap with Medellin and the 1000m Class 2 Handicap with Dreams Out West, were both also piloted by Jake Pracey-Holmes and saw no hindrance as they fought their way to salutes in their respective races.
Lane said seeing the two horses win was a welcome return on investment, especially given the shared connection of owner between the two horses.
"They both had really strong runs and it's always good to get a good result for the owners, they're both Bob's horses and so it was good to give him those wins on Saturday," Lane said.
While Lane secured a double with his effort, Jake Pracey-Holmes managed to triple up on wins after running in another salute for trainer Mark Milton with Dynamite Dan in the Benchmark 50 Handicap.
Lane will next get a chance at major success when he takes Zou Island to the second day of racing at Royal Randwick.
