Show Society member Anne Mosten said society members were never consulted by the council and there was no offer given to the society to relocate the building.
According to Mrs Mosten, the nursery building had been a gift to the community.
Mrs Mosten said the council had taken over the running of the show, but nothing was ever discussed regarding the Animal Nursery so Show Society members continued to run it and planned for it to go ahead.
Mrs Mosten said having a toilet block built in that vicinity means no food stores can be put within that area.
"The toilet block is a horrendous idea and a waste of money," she said.
"The animal nursery is the heart and soul of the show. The community needs access to an animal nursery. The show society has spent the last ten years investing in the nursery and to have it be treated as so dismissive is just disheartening."
Mrs Mosten said the council could have at least replaced the nursery with something more appealing like green space for people to sit on.
"The construction of a new toilet block is such a waste of money when they could just redo the already existing ones," she said.
"They said we didn't ask to keep the building, but how can we ask for something we never knew was happening," she said.
Mrs Mosten believes plans were made by the council to replace the nursery with a toilet block over a year ago, but no consultation was ever made.
"What's the point of community consultation if you plan on going ahead and doing it anyway," she said.
"Some of the Show Society members managed to go down and retrieve the Animal Nursery sign, but that's all we have been able to save."
Dubbo Regional Council has been contacted for comment, however, the Daily Liberal has not received a response at the time of publication.
