The NSW RSL Sub Branch cancelled Anzac Day march and commemoration services around the state following Government advice and restrictions regarding the spread of COVID-19.
Dubbo RSL Sub Branch presidents Tom Gray met with Dubbo Regional Council staff and held an extraordinary meeting of the RSL sub branch committee to see if anything could be done by members to commemorate following the announcement.
"We had decided to get together and have our own service in the club at 11am, but then there were further changes and you are not allowed to have any gathering together of more than 100 people inside.
"We are also not allowed to do pre Anzac Day services at schools and aged care homes either.
"It's all had to be cancelled."
Mr Gray instead said he was encouraging members and members of the community to visit a cenotaph on the day for just a moment.
"At any stage, any time of their choice, they can go down and have a moment with their mate that never made it home."
Mr Gray said if anyone in the community couldn't make it to the cenotaph during the day then he asked them to have a moment of silence out of respect for the fallen.
On social media residents are encouraging others to find new ways to commemorate the ocassion.
One idea is to stand at the end of their driveways at 6am on Anzac Day with a radio tuned to play the national anthem as a mark of respect.
