Dubbo MP Dugald Saunders and members of Dubbo Regional Council were at the Wellington Caves on March, 20 to announce the $400,000 project, which is being funded under the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Mr Saunders said the funding will be used to boost numbers at the recently-opened visitors centre at the Caves.
The $4.23 million Wellington Caves Visitor Experience Centre opened to the public in February.
The Visitor Experience Centre includes a cafe, admissions area, Mega Fauna Exhibition Space, discovery lab, fossil store and visitor amenities.
Following the amalgamation of Dubbo and Wellington Councils, the state government announced each merged council would receive $10 million in funding under the Stronger Communities Fund to go towards major projects.

The state government provided $3.8 million from the Fund towards the development, with Dubbo Regional Council putting in $400,000.
Mr Saunders said the $400,000 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund will allow Council to proceed with the installation of the interactive zone, which will appeal to families and school groups, and in turn increase visitation rates to the caves.
"It is important that we are able to provide an experience that genuinely tells of the history of this important piece of Wiradjuri country," he said.
"It's a very exciting development and one that I am proud to be able to make a reality through this funding."
