While Mudgee was claiming this season's Central West District Golf Association pennants crown, Dubbo suffered a 4.5-0.5 loss to the Orange club to finish its campaign.
Chris Schubert was only player to get something out of the battle, halving his contest with Tyson Lane.
Duntryleague players won the four other games. Rod Jones defeated Mathew Brown 3 and 2, David Corby downed Aaron Etcell 5 and 3, Peter Mitchell beat Dayne Gardiner 4 and 3, and champion Robert Payne defeated Matthew Gleeson 5 and 4.
The over result means Dubbo finished the Division 1 competition in fifth spot.
The best result for any Dubbo side came in divisions three and four. Both those sides finished third after being knocked out in the semi-finals. Dubbo's Divisin 2 side failed to make the semi-finals.
The winner of the Division 1 title was Mudgee Golf Club.
Although tipped to be the underdog, the Mudgee squad scored a commanding 4-1 victory.
Mark Hale, Dallas Kelly, Josh Campbell and Kris Stathopoulos all won while captain Andrew Best was the only of his team to miss out.
"They were predominantly the favourites in everyone's minds except for the Mudgee boys, we were very confident," Hale said.
It capped off a stellar year for the Mudgee club, as the Division 2 side finished runner-up and the other two teams qualified for the semi-finals.
"For Mudgee, we're not one of the bigger clubs with teams like Duntryleague and Bathurst and Dubbo, they're a lot bigger than us, but this year we got four teams into the semi's which was pretty exciting for everyone," Hale added.
Hale, one of the region's top players, put the success down to the support shown throughout the competition.
"It's probably one of the better experiences I've had associated with the pennants team," he said.
