After so long we've finally had some good rainfalls, we've got some good water flowing into the catchment area and the dams, and a bore has been found in Wellington - securing water for the community.
Yep, it's some good news alright.
A community consultation meeting about water was held earlier in the week at the council chambers, with about 40 people in the crowd, and a few more watching the live stream.
Water NSW's executive manager systems operations Adrian Langdon said while they were still planning for the worst, the recent rain was helping to push the Macquarie River's cease-to-flow date back to March 2021.
There's even a chance that we could receive above average rainfall in the coming months - now wouldn't that be nice.
But while there are signs the worst drought in more than a century could be slowly breaking, it's not time to become complacent in terms of water.
Hopefully the level four restrictions that residents of the Dubbo Regional Council area remain on mean we are starting to become a little more aware of how we use our water.
As things get better, the hoses for washing machines shouldn't be put away, nor the buckets gathering water under showers and taps.
We need to remain conscious even when we get more rain and things get better.
What are you doing to save a little water this weekend?
