But, in the midst of the usual business stories, there is some good news from this one, with Brennan's Mitre 10 managing director Michael Brennan announcing they will sell the business to the Petrie family, owners of Mitre 10 at Mudgee and several other locations across NSW.
It's not the usual story for a business in the current climate, with many closing up due to hardships associated with the drought.
Less water, means less stock and crops, means less money in the local economy, and after a number of years, many businesses are suffering.
Which is why we were happy to hear of the sale, and ultimately that the Petrie's team were welcoming the Brennan's team across.
The stores staff of about 40 people will continue to have their roles after the ownership changes on March 30, with the new owners saying they were looking forward to building long-term relationships with the staff and the customers.
So while the name will change, the staff you know so well will stay the same - the staff that know their customers and know their products and have solved a lot of problems over the years.
As Mr Petrie said to our reporter, "that's the key to our business really, is we provide solutions for people's problems" ... "we actually become part of that journey".
While in other articles we are writing about potential job cuts later in the year for other businesses, it's not something we have to worry about for this local business - and that's the good news today.
