Uber is already operating in Bathurst and Orange, and from April will roll-out the service across the rest of NSW, the company announced on Wednesday.

Australian general manager of the company Dom Taylor, said people across the state want Uber to come to their community.

"We're keen to see locals and tourists alike support these regional drivers when the Uber rider app goes live state-wide, whether its a regular Saturday night or a trip to the famous Taronga Western Plains Zoo," he said.

Uber's first regional NSW location was Newcastle in 2016.

It was then launched in Bathurst, Orange, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Tamworth in 2018.

At the a spokesperson said the demand for Uber in Dubbo wasn't there, but they would continue to monitor it.

Dubbo residents are now being encouraged to sign up as drivers.

Mr Taylor said Uber was an alternative for people to get home safely and avoid drink driving.

"It's also a great opportunity for people to earn some extra dollars on the weekends or during peak tourist periods," he said.

Mr Taylor said Uber had brought forward plans to expand across the entire state to help fire and drought-affected regions get back on their feet.

"During the first two months of 2020, tens of thousands of domestic tourists from 35 places around Australia, have used the Uber app to get around the parts of regional NSW we already cover," he said.

"That's why we believe ride share can help drive spend for local businesses as locals and tourists get around to the fantastic restaurants and pubs that Dubbo has to offer."
