Origin and Kangaroos star Mitchell made the high-profile move from the Roosters to Rabbitohs during the off-season and will make his debut for the club at fullback during the annual Charity Shield clash with St George Illawarra at Glen Willow.
Speaking while promoting the Souths Cares program and healthy living at Wellington Public School on Friday, injured Rabbitohs back-rower Ethan Lowe said the club is excited to see what their new number one can deliver.
"He's been great around the boys... he's really brought himself into the squad and is a real part of it now," Lowe said.
"We're excited to get him out there in his first time in the colours, it should be interesting. He's a great player and we all know what he can do on the field so we expect him to go out there and do his job and do it well."

Lowe was joined in Wellington but Rabbitohs veteran Yileen Gordon and the recently retired John Sutton.
They spent time mixing with the students and running a number of drills while also speaking about the importance of oral health.
"It's been really enjoyable to get out to these parts of NSW and spread some good messages," Gordon said.
"I think it's good we're able to do that on the back of footy and show what Souths is about as a club."
Gordon, who played for the South Sydney reserve grade side in 2019, said the Souths Cares program has been going from strength to strength.
"It really helps when we can get away to rural areas like here and spread some good messages on the back of good footy, which the people love to see and we know how much kids in the country love footy," he said.
Lowe is currently sidelined with injury but said he hopes to be back in the red and green for the NRL round one clash with Cronulla on March 14.
The Rabbitohs and Dragons play from 7pm a Glen Willow on Saturday night.
