A highlight of the U19 and Elite championships was the presentation of the NSW Cyclist of the year Awards. Two of Dubbo's cyclists were awarded for fantastic results during 2019.
Kurt Eather took home the U19 Cyclist of the year award for 2019 while Danny Barber took out the U17 Cyclist of the year award. These awards put them in the company of Olympian, Karlee McCulloch, who took out the NSW Elite woman of the Year Award.
Danny Barbers decision to focus on track cycling was rewarded with some fantastic returns at the State Championships. Barber, at only 16 years of age, set the fastest 200m sprint time of the weekend, besting not only his U19 competition but also was faster than any of the Elite men competitors.
He was able to add gold medals in the Time Trial, Scratch and Kieran events to his Sprint gold medal while also finishing with a silver in the 100 lap Points race giving him a personal tally of 4 gold and 1 silver from the 5 races he contested.

National U19 women's road champion Haylee Fuller is no stranger to the track. In the endurance events, there was no rider that was able to get near Fuller at the State Championships. In her 80 lap points race Fuller was dominant, at one stage lapping the field to take gold in decisive fashion.
Fuller also took gold in her pet Individual Pursuit, setting the fastest qualifying time before winning the gold medal ride off. Fuller added a silver to her tally by finishing second to Bathurst sprint star, Kalinda Robinson, in the scratch race.
Dylan Eather was too strong in the gruelling 100 lap points race taking gold and the NSW Championship.
This race saw many of the field drop out early due to the fast consistent pace. Eather backed up this result with Bronze medals in the Time Trial and the Individual Pursuit. Eather looks to be following in big brother Kurt's footsteps as a points race specialist.
Points race specialist Kurt Eather has held National and Oceania titles in the U19 category. This was his first state championships as an Elite rider.
Eather dominated the Elite men's 160 lap points race finishing with nearly double the points of second place. While finishing just off the podium in the Elite Kieran, Eather lit up the final, sprinting with three laps to go to just be caught on the line by the NSW Elite sprinters.
Emily Williams had a full load of events in the Elite women's category. Williams finished just off the podium in the points race, pursuit, scratch race and Kieran, against NSW Institute of sport and pro team riders.
It is the turn of Dubbo's U15 and 17 riders to contest their State Championships this weekend. A large contingent of Dubbo riders will be heading to Sydney with many competing in the first State Championships on the indoor velodrome.
