NSW Police officers from Parkes say they shooting occurred on a property on Wongalea Road at Gunningbland west of Parkes on February 15.
"The deceased animal was located by the owner in one of his paddocks," State Rural Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.
"Police believe the animal may have been shot by illegal hunters trespassing on the property."
Detective Inspector Whiteside has urged anyone with information about this incident to contact Parkes Police Station on 6862 9999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
