Some "big names" are on their way to the independent festival now in its third year, organiser Tim Smith said.

BeerFarm from Western Australia will travel more than 3500 kilometres to be part of the line-up on February 29.

BentSpoke from Canberra is also on board.

Mr Smith, owner of the Monkey Bar, said the line-up showed the strength of the festival, which attracted 1000 guests in its second year.

He said local support had been key to its success.

"We couldn't bring these guys out if Dubbo didn't get behind it, there'd be no reason for them to come out and support us, if we didn't support them," he said.

Mr Smith, who grew up at Dubbo, said this year the focus had been on supporting local.

"So all the live music is local, all the food vans are local, we've sourced nothing outside of Dubbo, apart from the breweries themselves," he said.

"I think it's important, I mean, we're getting some rain now, but the drought's still hanging around, we haven't broken it, so we need to support local where we can and that's as applicable for the festival as it is for everyone who gets behind it and helps us put it on."

At least 16 breweries will be represented at the festival, a celebration of craft beer and cider.

Mr Smith said they were hoping for a crowd to match the size of last year's.
