Earlier this week, Salvation Army Orana's Captain David Sutcliffe extended thanks to the local Ulysses club branch for their efforts in raising $1000 to the total, and contributing a number of toys through their annual toy run at the end of last year.
A spokesperson for the Salvation Army said the funds raised would be channelled directly into local welfare services.

Ulysses Club Western Plains President Dave Readford thanked the Salvation Army for their hard work.
"The salvos always appreciate whatever the public can give them to support their local office here," Mr Readford said.
Mr Readford said that while the overall number of toy donations had taken a hit during the most recent Toy Run, the quality of the contributions was better than ever.
"The talk was that the number was down, but the quality was a lot better, there was more good, usable games and practical toys that a normal family on a shoe-string budget wouldn't be able to go out and buy," Mr Readford said.
"There was also quite a few open orders donated, so that the Salvos could go down and buy something that fitted the requirements that they didn't have in stock."
Mr Readford and his club have been involved in the toy runs in the region since they began and is hoping to see more people get involved in this year's donation drive in December.
"For quite a few years, we've been involved, I was one of the first Ulysses members, a few of us got together and got it going, there's been a quite a few toy runs over the years and it's always good," Mr Readford said.
"If anyone wants to contact the Ulysses club through our Facebook page to get involved they can."
