Organiser Melissa Gleeson said the annual event had taken on 'special significance' this year due to the ongoing bushfire crisis and that people had been more ready to donate than ever.

"The little sporting events we run, the volleyball, the darts and cricket and such don't normally cost anything, but we just asked for a gold coin donation this time around," Ms Gleeson said.
"We donated all the meat and bread and then 100% of what was sold at the BBQ went to the RFS, it was about $500 from the BBQ itself and then another $200 or so came in through those gold coin donations."
The money raised on the day will all be donated to the local RFS branch in Dubbo.
