A Dubbo man is encouraging other residents to consider installing closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras on their property after his home was allegedly broken into.

Earlier this month Jim Nicholls' said his wife's handbag and the family car were stolen.
After handing the footage over to police, he said they were then able to make a number of arrests.
"If I had not of had CCTV cameras (installed) all I would have known when I woke up was that my car was stolen," Mr Nicholls said.
"I would of had no idea how they did it..."
Mr Nicholls got in touch with the Daily Liberal after reading the story published on January 17, regarding where Dubbo Council's work was up to in relation to the CCTV rollout in Wellington and Dubbo.

Mr Nicholls said he never thought he would have a need for his security system but is glad it's installed.
"You talk to people in this area and they say it's a quiet neighbourhood but it's not," he said.
"I don't think people realise what goes on in town during the night."
Mr Nicholls said the police have been fantastic with their investigation and if it wasn't for them they would of given up.
"It's given me a lot of satisfaction being able to identify the people, help the police and have them arrested," he said.
His message to others who may be thinking about installing CCTV at their home was "don't hesitate."
The matter is currently before the courts.
