A Dubbo man who crashed his car, took the number plates off it and said his name was John when it wasn't has been fined for a string of driving offences.

Sean Kenneth Huppatz first came to the attention of police when he was driving a Mercedes-Benz along Myall Street on May 19, 2018.
According to court documents, the 53-year-old was directed to enter a breath testing site but he ignored police and stopped 40 metres away from the site.

On the same day, police were told a single vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Yarrendale Road and Merrilea Road.
When police attended they noticed a damaged fence and the remnants of what appeared to be vehicle parts sitting in a small ditch.
Court documents revealed Huppatz gave an affected property owner a piece of paper with the name 'John Saunders' on it and a disconnected mobile telephone number.
Police said Huppatz left the scene of the collision and tried to drive the vehicle a westerly direction along Merrilea Road before he entered a property.
Huppatz's vehicle was abandoned and its number plates were removed.
"The number plates belonging to the vehicle were found in the boot," police said in court documents.
"Police observed the vehicle to have front end damage, the air bags to have been deployed and the front nearside tyre deflated."
A short time later police said Huppatz was found sitting in a shed.
"He made attempts to conceal himself behind a number of large objects, including boxes, tyres and rims," police said.
When police introduced themselves, they said Huppatz responded "with a grunt".
He was arrested and asked to stand up but a struggle ensued.
Police said Huppatz tried to get up several times but he kept falling back on the ground.
When police helped Huppatz finally get up off the ground, officers said he was "very unstable and unable to speak properly".
"He was mumbling and slurring his words," police said.
In Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday Huppatz pleaded guilty to negligent driving, not giving particulars to the owner of damaged property and failing to comply with a signal to stop a vehicle.
Magistrate Gary Wilson convicted Huppatz and fined him a total of $1150.
