Police are appealing for information after a man allegedly assaulted a 74-year-old woman in Dubbo on Tuesday.

About 2pm, a 74-year-old woman was loading shopping into the boot of her Nissan Pulsar, parked in a shopping centre car park on Bligh Street, when she was approached from behind and struck to the back of the head.
Following a struggle, the man took the woman's keys and drove off in the vehicle, reversing over her feet.
The women fell, striking her head on the ground.

Dubbo police attended and the Nissan was sighted on Hampton Street.
The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the 74-year-old woman for head and leg injuries before she was taken to Dubbo Hospital in a stable condition.
Inquiries are continuing to locate the man who is described as having a Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall with a medium build, brown hair and brown eyes.
