South West capitalised on a strong stretch in the field during the unbeaten Metro Thunder Outer West's first innings in order to keep the metro side constrained to 9/98, before breezing past in the ensuing chase and going 4/101.

"We definitely went alright out in the field, we did really well to keep them under a hundred and it was really well played by our bowlers and fielders," Cornish said.

Country Sixers Greater Hunter kept their winning streak alive through the change in format, putting up 118 runs with their first touch at the bat on day three and keeping Metro Sixers North East to 7/93 in their morning match-up.

The Metro teams got the better of the other opening exchanges, with Metro Sixers South East defeating Country Sixers Northern NSW 2/138 after opening batsman Hamish Reynolds stormed past a half century to finish on 70 runs.

Metro Thunder Inner West closed out the opening four games on Wednesday, finishing on 6/115 after a close, concentrated batting effort that saw them best Country Thunder South East's total of 9/114.

After the first round of games had concluded early in the day, Cornish re-affirmed his side's commitment to remaining focused on the final round before the preliminary finals.

"Only next game, we're not worrying about tomorrow yet, it's all the next game, we're looking forward and we're not thinking about the games we've had or what's happened, just the next game," Cornish said.

That focus paid off when Country Thunder South West gritted out a tough win over the Country Sixers Greater Hunter side in the day's second set of T20 fixtures.

Cornish, who'd been instrumental with the willow in his side's first game of the day, went for a golden duck in the second fixture as the first up batsman and his side had to fight back to claw together a winning total of 9/97.

Metro Sixers South East took a victory over Metro Thunder Inner West, setting a total of 7/101 that Metro Thunder Inner West were unable to reach.

Country Sixers Northern NSW chased down a game Country Thunder South East's total of 7/99, scoring 100 runs for six wickets.

Metro Thunder Outer West got back on track with a win over Metro Sixers North East, firing for 121 runs at a cost of six wickets and holding Metro Sixers North East to 5/116.

The six top teams will face off tomorrow in the preliminary finals at Lady Cutler and Victoria Park from 8am.

Meanwhile, the unbeaten sides in pool 1 and 3 of the under 13s State Challenge competition in Dubbo remained unfazed on day three, with both Country Thunder South West and Metro Sixers South East claiming wins in Victoria park.

Country Thunder South West downed Country Sixers Greater Hunter after chasing down their respectable total of 165, with both teams losing seven wickets.

Metro Sixers South East defeated Metro Thunder Inner West, losing only two wickets while chasing down the Inner West's total of 10/130.

Metro Sixers North East side didn't fare as well as their South East compatriots, falling to Metro Thunder Outer West 10/133 to 7/188.

Country Sixers Northern NSW fell short in their chase of Country Thunder South East's total of 109, finishing on 10/97.

The competition's two unbeaten teams will now face off in the grand final tomorrow morning on Lady Cutler Field 2 from 8am.
