Dubbo's Triathlon Club have celebrated another successful Family Fun Day Triathlon, with kids and parents alike both bucking the heat by plunging in for a river swim between bouts of running and cycling.

Triathlon Club secretary Ben Orford, said the event featured about thirty competitors, but there was a wealth of enthusiasm for all three events from all in attendance.

"We had about thirty there, which is about half our normal tri-stars event, it's more aligned with our senior club race days or something like that in terms of numbers, but the kids had such a great time and got to try some new things, so it was really good," Orford said.
Orford said the event was a good way for the club to start off 2020, with the family fun day serving as a good introduction for kids new to the event.
"Yeah, the young kids just love the challenge of getting involved and having the three different disciplines of swimming, running and riding a bike and doing the transitions between them."
