A section of the Golden Highway at Elong Elong near Dubbo is expected to remain closed until at least mid-February as Transport for NSW and the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) continue to clean up after a massive fuel spill.

About 30,000 litres of fuel spilt when a B-double fuel tanker rolled earlier this month and a Transport for NSW spokeswoman said work to clean up and repair the section of highway was "continuing well".
"The section of road impacted by the spill has been excavated with Transport for NSW is continuing to work with the EPA to assess any environmental impacts," the spokeswoman advised.
"More than 7000 tonnes of material has been removed from the section of affected road.
"The material will be taken for stockpiling and future treatment and disposal under the direction of the EPA."
All road repair costs will be covered by insurance, the spokeswoman confirmed.
"The highway is on track to be reopened early to mid-February," she advised.
"A two kilometre detour is in place and is suitable for all vehicles via Cobbora Road and Muronbung Road, adding just five minutes additional travel time between Dubbo and Dunedoo.
"Work is being carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays, weather permitting."
Police said investigations into the spill were continuing.
