The Centre Midwifery, run by midwife Rachel Bassett, will officially open its doors on Saturday, February 1.

The new service will give women in Dubbo and surrounds options for their pregnancy and birth care.

Mrs Bassett is an endorsed midwife who has worked in the industry for many years.

After establishing her service, Mrs Bassett is now living out her passion to support empowered birthing options and women-centred care.

The Centre Midwifery provides antenatal education classes, midwifery led antenatal care, hypnobirthing, homebirth, doula support services and postnatal care.

"It is important that women are given options for their pregnancy and birth care," Mrs Bassett said.

"All women should be involved in the decision-making process of their care.

"The Centre Midwifery provides evidence-based information to women and supports the woman's choice."

Mrs Bassett said supporting women and providing independent midwifery care has always been a passion of hers, and something she has always wanted to do.

"It's important that women feel supported, loved and respected during their pregnancy and birth.

"It's not just about having a baby, it's about the journey of becoming a mother."

"A woman's birth experience impacts her self-esteem, parenting and relationships.

"My desire is for women to walk away feeling empowered from their birth experience, not broken."

Rachel said evidence released in 2019 stated home birth is just as safe, if not safer, than hospital births for women with low-risk pregnancies.

The opening will be held on Saturday, February 1, from 10am to 12pm at 7/77 Myall Street, Dubbo.
