Giving GPs "reasons to come here" is important in the building of their ranks, says state Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders.

He has joined the public conversation started when the Bureau of Health Information released its quarterly report for July to September 2019.
It revealed a 71.6 per cent increase in non-urgent presentations at Dubbo Hospital's Emergency Department.
Dubbo residents have since told of their difficulties in accessing GP care in the city.

Mr Saunders doesn't disagree with residents who want to see more GPs working in the city.
"Like a lot of locations across the state, both regional and metropolitan, there are times when it feels like we have a real shortage of doctors and it can be difficult to get an appointment," he said.
"I think it goes without saying that Dubbo would benefit from having more GPs," he said.
"I think everyone would see that as a positive thing.
"The obvious solution is attracting health professionals here in the first place, and to do that we need to ensure we have things like theatres, movies, a café culture and other appropriate infrastructure that entices them and then keeps them here.
"Obviously you can't force GPs to live and work in certain places, but by giving them reasons to come here and hopefully fall in love with the region you get the ball rolling."
