Water usage plummeted from 393L in the week ending January 5 to 268L in the week ending January 12.
The drop of 125L per person per day occurred as the city officially welcomed a total of 18.4 millimetres (mm) of rain across four days.
It followed a week of top temperatures of between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius.

Dubbo Regional council has been recording water use and posting it at www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au/droughthub since the week ending November 10.
Level four water restrictions were introduced to the Dubbo region on November 1.
Dubbo residents used 220L per person per day in the week ending November 10, 60L under the 280L target. They were unable to repeat the feat until last week.
Water usage at Wellington and Geurie also fell below the 280L target last week.Wellington used 176L per person per day in the week ending January 12 compared with 307L the previous week.
Geurie residents used 173L down from 302L.
