Mitchell's Roosters exit and subsequent signing with arch rivals Souths ends one of the longest running player movement sagas in NRL history, with the 22-year-old's departure from the two-time premiers and then mooted moves to the Bulldogs, Wests Tigers and North Queensland Cowboys leading up to this week's Rabbitohs announcement.
He's signed a one-year deal at Redfern, with a club option for 2021, and it could potentially kick-off at Glen Willow on Saturday, February 29, when Souths take on St George Illawarra in the Charity Shield.
The annual pre-season fixture has for the last two years been staged in Group 10 territory and the 2020 trial will again be played at Mudgee's multi-million dollar complex.

A host of stars have played their first games for the year in the Charity Shield, which is traditionally both clubs' last trial before the season proper.
Mitchell finished the 2019 season as the NRL's top points scorer and was awarded the 2019 Dally M centre of the year.
Souths boss Shane Richardson said the club was thrilled to have Mitchell on deck following the losses of long-time stars Greg Inglis and Sam Burgess, both to premature retirements, in 2019.
"Latrell is a sublime talent and with the guidance of our coaching staff, senior players and mentors, we think Latrell can go to another level in the red and green," Richardson said.
"We can't wait to see him run out in a South Sydney jersey."
