At 10.30pm on Monday, December 30 police were on patrol when they observed a motorcycle being ridden on Morilla Street in Lightning Ridge.
"Police followed the motorcycle for a short distance and while attempting to manoeuvre the bike the rider was observed to fall," officers said in a statement.
"The rider removed his helmet and attempted to run from the scene before he was stopped a short distance away.
"The rider was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result."
Officers said the 47-year-old Lightning Ridge male was arrested and returned to Lightning Ridge Police Station where he returned a high range reading of 0.216.
"His licence was immediately suspended and further enquires revealed he was riding an unregistered motorcycle," police said.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear before Lightning Ridge Local Court later this month.
