The racing event defied the recent deluge of conditions and drew a large crowd for the two feature races, those commemorating Gerard Yeo and Colleen O'Neill.
While the six race slate featured plenty of hometown heroes and Central West talent, it was a New Zealand import that took out the Gerard Yeo Memorial Race, with the Jarred Heterington trained Unico Enchantress NZ making easy work of her Australian debut and storming home to score a resounding victory.
The speedster from across the Pacific ocean had the best seat to start from in the house, drawing the first spot in the front row, and made the most of it, leading with ease from the jump and tearing away from the starting gate and keeping the rest of the field behind her.
While the Michael Pay trained Im Super Sophie fought gamely for second place, and the Wendy Turnbull trained Bustling Barney also made the most of their front row start to battle from the third position, there was never any doubt who was in control of the race as soon as the bell sounded.
Unico Enchantress thundered home from the final turn and broke clear of any pretence of a close fixture, arriving at the finishing line with a margin of 13.10m between her and Im Super Sophie.
Members of the Yeo clan were on hand to congratulate Hetherington and driver Murray Sullivan and to present them with the Gerard Yeo Memorial rug that was awarded to the winners.
Pat Yeo spoke after the win and recognised the impact that son Gerard had on the local Dubbo community and how his loss was still felt today, calling Gerard an 'inspiration' and thanking all in attendance.
"We feel very honoured that this race has been named in memory of Gerard and on behalf of my family, I'd like to say thank you very much," Yeo said.
Dubbo Harness Racing Club President Len Edwards thanked the sizable crowd in attendance as well, before noting that it was 'deeply sad' to lose a loved one.
