Mrs Johnson's contributions to the nursing profession and healthcare in country NSW were recognised recently at an afternoon tea held on her final day of work as Dubbo Hospital's director of nursing - a role she held for almost eight years.
"I've got 10 grandchildren so I'm actually going to be looking after them next year," she said.
"I've got lots of travel plans."
Working on the hospital redevelopment project was a big highlight for Mrs Johnson, who was responsible for managing more than 400 nurses during her time as director.
"In the last couple of years we've increased our full-time equivalent nurses by about 80 so that has been a highlight too," she said.
"We've got a great team here and we do great things in Dubbo.
"With the redevelopment it's just going from strength to strength."
