We show goodwill towards people we would not be so kind to at other times of the year.
We make an effort to be personable, reasonable, loveable and loving.
It is not just because the end of the year is near and some of us have a break from work to look forward to.
I have concluded that Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind.....
What a wonderful world it would be if we maintained the Christmas state of mind for the entire year, or at the very least large chunks of it.
Could we stop judging each other? We do have differences; it is human, accept it and move on.
Could we seek to ask hard questions of those we need to, but do it in a kind and respectful way? Anger is a waste of energy.
Could we actually show real gratitude for what we have rather than lament the things we do not have?
Could we actually show genuine kindness to one another with no expectation it will be returned?
Could we start holding our politicians accountable for the decisions they make on our behalf, but do it without vitriol?
Could we be compassionate and caring, sympathetic and empathetic to all people and animals?
Many of us do these things without a second thought at this time of year, it is a state of mind, and it feels good to do these things and be on the receiving end of them.
I hope you are the beneficiary of this Christmas state of mind this festive season, and my wish is that it extends to you beyond that, well into 2020.
