According to a police facts statement presented in court, the woman and her partner were watching television in a Cadell Street home on July 6 when they heard a noise coming from the backyard.
The woman walked into the kitchen and saw Dallas Leigh Bradford close a door behind him.
Bradford ran into the bedroom, jumped on top of the woman's partner and starting punching the victim in the head.
According to the facts statement, the victim tried to push 23-year-old Bradford away.
When Bradford did get off, he apologised to the victim but when the dazed victim tried to stand up and figure out what was going on, Bradford started to punch him again.
In an attempt to get Bradford off the victim, the woman jumped on Bradford's back and put her arms around his chest. The woman and Bradford fell backwards and landed on the floor.
Bradford ran away and as he left the property, he punched the passenger side window of the victim's Toyota Hulux and caused a window to smash.
A few hours later, Bradford went to the police station with his mother and admitted his wrongdoing.
Bradford pleaded guilty to a range of offences which included breaching an apprehended domestic violence order, assault and property damage. He has been remanded in custody since he was arrested.
Magistrate Gary Wilson convicted Bradford and sentenced him to 15 months in jail. A non-parole period of 11 months was imposed, and Bradford will be eligible for parole on June 6 next year.
