The Geurie Public School students used what they had learnt about about how reducing packaging will cut the amount of rubbish in landfill to create a piece of art for the side of the bins.
Dubbo Regional Council resource recovery and efficiency manager Mark Giebel said the message developed by the students - reducing packaging for a healthier world - hit the nail on the head when it came to being more conscience of what goes in the bin.

Meanwhile, Stuart Town students focused on the importance of composting to prevent food and garden waste ending up in landfill. Their message was 'composting gives us healthy gardens and happy spirits'.
"Students have learnt about what compost is, and how it can help grow gardens and make soil healthy, through their school-based environmental and sustainability education classes that the councils of Dubbo, Mid-Western and Narromine have funded across all primary schools," Mr Giebel said.
Dubbo mayor Ben Shields was impressed with the artwork.
"When the kids visit the new waste facilities with their parents, they will have a sense of pride and ownership, after being involved in bringing these fantastic bins to life. Let's be honest, bins aren't usually considered glamorous, but with these new designs on them they will have a new reputation," he said.
Students developed the artworks through sessions with Zest Events.
