Dubbo Regional councillor Vicki Etheridge has been working on the beautification of the neighbourhood shopping precincts since she was elected to council in 2017.
Now plans have been developed to show how Tamworth Street and Boundary Road will be improved.
Cr Etheridge said the "horrible concrete" would be taken out, to be replaced with nice pavers. It will not only improve the look of the street but ensure it's cooler.

More greenery will also be added, including trees and planter boxes.
"On the whole, we're going to make it more user-friendly and a nicer place to be," Cr Etheridge said.
The ultimate goal is to attract more people to the neighbourhood shopping precincts.
"I want to do anything I can to support these small businesses. Their day-to-day income is really important, they can't afford to have a bad day, they need a good day every day," Cr Etheridge said.
The plan will be open for feedback in February. Both the businesses and the community will have a chance to give their thoughts on the design.
"For a long time all we've concentrated on is the main street and I understand that because it is one of our main attractions, but the suburban shops miss out on that," Cr Etheridge said.
"Most people who come to town wouldn't even know where Tamworth Street was. It's time we brought them into the focus. It's time we started looking after our smaller businesses who very much rely on every day income."
Cr Etheridge said the businesses had been as frustrated as she was that nothing had been done before now to beautify the area.
"I was down at Tamworth Street one day and was looking around and I thought 'this looks awful'. Then I went for a drive down Boundary Road and I thought 'this looks even worse'. I had a quick chat with some of the stakeholders then and they said they'd been trying to get something happening for years and it kept constantly falling on deaf ears," she said.
The councillor said she was confident the beautification of Tamworth Street and Boundary Road would be funded in the next council budget.
Victoria Street will also undergo beautification, however, Cr Etheridge said she was waiting until Roads and Maritime Services released their plans for the traffic lights and intersection.
The plans for Victoria Street will likely be developed in the following year, before undergoing the same consultation process.
