Marlia was joined by family members, including her mother Jasmine Middleton, friends, teachers and fellow students at Dubbo North Public where she was given a generous amount of support.
Marlia's donation, accumulated by sponsors, will go to the World's Greatest Shave, Leukemia Foundation, which aims to raise $16.2 million in 2019 alone in a mission to "shave the world" from blood cancer.
Ms Middleton said Marlia was inspired to shave her head by two former students, Emily and Chloe, who did it three years ago.
"We're really proud of her for doing something good to help others in need," Ms Middleton said.
Marlia's peers cheered as her mother cut her plaits off before handing them to Marlia to hold up for the crowd to see; a genuine smile of pride plastered across her face, and not an ounce of regret.
