About 100 people travelling in more than 30 cars left the coast behind on Sunday for the three-day shopping trip for a cause.
Sydney real estate agency DiJONES has organised the "drought drive" to help regional small businesses dealing with tough times.
The convoy of cars travelled west on Sunday, arriving in Dubbo to stay in accommodation for the night before continuing on to other towns in the region.
DiJONES sales agent Karen D'Angola made a stop at the Lazy River Estate Pop-Up Christmas Markets and then had time for shopping in Dubbo before dining.
She said they were finding a friendly and welcoming reception from the communities.

"They're just really thankful," she said.
"It's really really sweet and quite, and gets a little bit emotional actually.
"So when we drove through we stopped at Millthorpe and then at Wellington. When they saw us walk in they were just really happy to have us there, and really lovely, telling us all about everything, how hard they're working on things.
"You can see times are tough, so they really appreciate us hitting town and buying a few things and touching base."
When asked if they were finding some treasures, Beecroft-based Ms D'Angola said they had "a ute full of them".
"We're doing lots of Christmas shopping, lots of personal shopping, so it's fabulous," she said.
"And things are unique and special to the areas, you don't see them everywhere so it's nice actually to get some special things."
Dubbo's Royal Bubs N Tots owner Larrissa Kek praised the Sydney firm's response to the dry time.
"I think the DiJONES Drought Drive is absolutely amazing for everyone that has got into their cars to come out west to see what's happening out here and put their money into our communities is something special," she said.
Cars in the convoy will go as far as Nyngan and Walgett.
