Dubbo, second on the ladder after a loss last round, travels to Wade Park for Sunday's third round and Skinner knows how important the game will be.
"Last year they [Orange] came to Dubbo and beat us, which we weren't happy with, and hopefully we can beat them in Orange," Skinner said.
"And now after our loss to Bathurst we can't afford to lose any more games and rely on results to get us through."
Rugby wicket-keeper Roland O'Connor will make his representative debut on Sunday as regular keeper Tom Coady is unavailable.

The captain doesn't know a whole lot about the Rugby man but he comes highly recommended.
"I haven't really seen much of him, but I've heard from people that he is good looking bat and solid keeper and that's important," Skinner said.
"In this side we have 'Chuck' [Charlie Kempston] who has wicket-kept part-time this year but we needed a specialist keeper.
"'Hilly' [Jacob Hill] has said he has only let through a handful of byes and has got a few starts and decent scores."
Skinner isn't sure where O'Connor would bat but said his stacked batting line-up is for a reason.
With so much power in the team, the likes of Steve Skinner and Ben Knaggs may find themselves in the tail.
"It's hard to juggle batting orders when you have guys who all bat in their top five for club cricket but since I've taken over (as captain) I've given people roles," Skinner said.
"For those who are batting up the order they are batsmen and for those lower are bowlers, the fact they have other skills is a bonus but they are picked to do a certain role and it's fairer that way."
Skinner believes there is a "changing of the guard" in Dubbo cricket with many older players sliding down the grades to mentor and give opportunities to young players.
"There isn't too many older blokes running around and there is a lot of younger kids but the older blokes like John Colwell and Wes Giddings who can easily still play first grade have gone down to give younger players more opportunity and help bring them up into higher grade cricket." Skinner said.
Orange, like Dubbo, has one win to its name but also lost to Bathurst in the opening two rounds.
Sunday's game starts at 10am.
