Next Monday's meeting at Wellington Jockey Club was originally meant for Dubbo but the dry nature of the track forced it to be moved.
Gordon stated that was done in order to ensure the Chill-Rite Daikin Christmas twilight party meeting on December 21 went ahead as planned.
"We swapped it out to make sure we were right for that," he said.
"I think it will be something we see more of in the next three or four months as clubs and trainers manoeuvre to see who gets the rain.
"It's a good thing the clubs can make it work. There's racing at Wellington because it was unsuitable here and now we'll be right for our Christmas meeting."

Gilgandra and Narromine are other nearby tracks which have been rated highly by trainers and owners in the past while the quality of the Coonamble facility was clear to see when it was awarded hosting rights for next year's Country Championships Qualifier meeting.
"It's just the dry," Gordon said of the issue at his track.
"It's just all about H20. But we're in a good spot at the moment and we're fortunate the pool of horses in the region only need to go another 50 kilometres up the road.
"The cooperation of clubs has made it able for those people to race."
The final fields for Monday's meeting were released on Thursday with a number of competitive events set to be contested.
The Over The Line Racing Benchmark 58 Handicap - Heat of the Rising Star (1400m) will also feature some of the state's most promising up-and-coming jockeys.
The race is purely for apprentice jockeys and the likes of Kate Cowan, Angela Cooper, Qin Yong, and Yvette Lewis will all take part.
Cooper is now based in Goulburn but will team up with her father, Dubbo trainer Myron, at Wellington.
The Coopers will be in action with Bounty Belle, who recently arrived at the Dubbo stables from Cessnock trainer Dean Jackson.
Meetings in Warren and Orange in the coming weeks follow Wellington races on Monday, before Dubbo Turf Club's Christmas meeting takes centre stage.
"It's going to be a very good meeting and it will become iconic for the city," Gordon said.
"We'll keep working and the club is determined to make it a good day and that's why we've been doing what we're doing."
Racing starts at 1.25pm at Wellington Jockey Club on Monday.
