THE cause of three overnight fires that are thought to have been deliberately lit are now under police investigation.
The first emergency call out came at 7.30pm on Tuesday, with Fire and Rescue NSW crews responding to reports of a fire off John Glenn Place in Dubbo.
Station Officer John Poulos said upon arrival firefighters discovered a small amount of vegetation on fire.
Then, at midnight crews received another call out to a location along the same street for a separate blaze.
"There was a pile of vegetation on fire and police were in attendance at this one," Station Officer Poulos said.
At the same time firefighters were alerted to a third blaze burning 100 metres up the road.
"This one was more like a campfire, but it was unattended," he said.
"It was unusual to have the two fires in the same time at the same place."
Station Officer Poulos said under the right conditions these fires could have easily and quickly spread.
"If that wind came up like it has been it could have definitely blown an ember out," he said.
Anyone with information on a deliberately lit fire is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
