Batting first Rugby started strongly with Darcy Chewings (57) and Josh Connolly (36) putting together 93 for the first wicket before both were removed by Aydan Hunt.
After breaking the opening stand, CYMS went on to take regular wickets with spinners Paddy Nelson (3/38) and Hunt (2/42) being the pick of the bowlers.
Pete Karydis and Ty Webb chipped in for Rugby seeing them to a competitive score of 7/200 from their 40 overs.
CYMS' run chase started poorly with Daniel Smith (1) removed by Alex Walker, but captain Heath Larance (52) and Trae Smith (38) put together an 80-run partnership.
Nathan Hawke (49) partnered Lachie O'Malley (43) in the middle overs to get CYMS within reach until Zac Murphy removed them both.
On the last ball CYMS required three runs to win and Hunt edged a ball off Murphy (4/33) which rolled away for four to seal victory.
Elsewhere, Newtown opener Adam Davis (81) and first-drop Kel Blackett (56) combined to set RSL-Colts 216 for victory.

Matt Keenan (3/31) and Tyson Deebank (2/35) were the picks of the bowlers and while their RSL side started well with the bat regular wickets saw them finish at 201.
Malachi Dutschke (3/36), Troy Tracey (2/52) and Bart Goodman (2/38) were the best of the Newtown bowling unit.
Harry Brennan shone with 3/12 and scored 42 in Macquarie's win over South Dubbo.
Cameron Herd played the lone hand for Souths and made 39 in the total of 100 as Brennan, Luke Patis (3/14) and Chad O'Brien (2/18) ripped through the lineup.
Macquarie slumped to 4/44 at one point but Brennan and Jake Cuthill (3 not out) dug in to see their side home with 17 overs left.
The RSL-Kelly Cup saw Newtown Black take on clubmates Newtown Gold in Narromine.
Dan Battishall (4/30) led the way for Newtown Gold and was assisted by Adlai Shipp (2/23) and Lloyd Chikari (2/28) as Black was knocked over for 116.
Greg Masonwells (39) led the successful chase while Andrew Gardiner took 3/19 and did his best to keep his side in the game.
Cody Green starred with 5/32 and 84, and Brad Roberts made 77 in Macquarie's win over RSL-Colts Coolbaggie.
Green was the destroyer with the ball early on and while Richie Deebank (54) helped Colts to a competitive total of 217 it wasn't enough.
Green and Roberts came together with their side in trouble but blasted the Blues to victory.
David McAlister scored 105 as CYMS Green posted a massive 253 against Colts United.
McAlister and Sam Thompson (64) dispatched the RSL bowlers to all parts and while Pat Cuskelly (67) got Colts within striking distance in the chase his side was bowled out for 196.
Rugby defeated Newtown Demons as the latter was bowled out for 110 with Beven Charlton-White scoring 51 while Trevor O'Malley took four wickets.
James Rootes (30) top-scored as Rugby won with eight overs remaining.
South Limes defeated CYMS White on the final ball as Noel McGrath (65) led his side to victory.
Rory Madden (36) top-scored in CYMS' total of 153 but McGrath ensured Limes stayed in touch during the race.
It came down the the final ball and Limes youngster Ryan Boland hit the two runs needed to seal the one-wicket victory.
