Could a casino in Dubbo ensure the long term viability of the city? Dubbo regional councillor John Ryan thinks so.
Cr Ryan wants the NSW government to permit a restricted gaming licence for Dubbo to allow a casino. It's part of his plan to attract international visitors to Dubbo and the region.
However, this casino would be not-for-profit and contain no poker machines.
If done right, a casino in Dubbo would not only provide an economic boom for the city but would help curb social disadvantage, says mayor Ben Shields.
The council gets things wrong according to many Dubbo residents, so what do you think about this proposal, could it work?
Speaking about wrong choices, many in the community feel former Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre manager Nick Wilson should still be running the facility.
The Dubbo Regional Council says it will not engage in a public slanging match with former Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre manager after he posted a lengthy diatribe on Facebook where he said he was heartbroken with the way the aquatic centre was being run since his departure.
And, sadly, Dubbo residents have been part of a widespread letter campaign that includes a message to 'go kill yourself'.
Have you received one of these disgusting letters?
Police are appealing for anyone who receives one to report it.
